‘We’ll do it,’ says Netanyahu about Trump’s proposal to take Paya Palestinians
“What Trump is saying is, ‘I want to open the door and give them the option of temporarily moving while we physically rebuilt the place,’ he said.
According to Netanyahu, Trump “never said he wants American troops to do this job. Do you know what I say? We’ll do the job, we’ll do that.”
Israel took the Gaza Strip in 1967 and maintained military presence there until 2005, when he withdrew his settlers and troops.
Subsequently, he imposed a blockade on the territory ruled by Hamas and placed him under siege when the war began in October 2023.
Israel and armed groups in Gaza have waged several wars in recent years, but the most recent, triggered by the unprecedented attack of Hamas to Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, was the deadliest and most destructive.
Netanyahu said Trump’s proposal was a change from the “same ever”.
