Haddad and Alcolumbre adopt a tone of reciprocity between Congress and the Government

Finance Minister Fernando Haddad met on Tuesday (11) with Senate President David Alcolumbre (Brazil-AP Union), to discuss the economic agenda of the federal government and the performance of Congress in the processing of priority measures .

After the meeting, Alcolumbre defended a joint legislature to boost the country’s growth and asked parliamentarians to leave political differences aside.

“We will leave the divergences aside and, with this spirit, we are here to make a difference,” said the senator, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the Senate, the House and the Federal Government.

Economic agenda and role of Congress

Haddad pointed out that Brazil’s sustainable growth depends on the approval of structural measures. According to him, the country has grown almost 7% in the last two years, partly due to the initiatives approved by Congress.

The minister also thanked the approval of 32 economic measures by the legislature in 2024 and stressed the need to keep an open channel for new proposals.

“Congress has an open schedule to advance projects that improve the business environment in Brazil, and the executive is ready to dialogue and incorporate new initiatives,” said Haddad.

The minister said that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) already has a set of measures in internal processing, which will be added to the proposals already approved or in progress. In addition, Haddad stressed, the executive intends to integrate Congress initiatives to the global economic agenda for the next two years.

The expectation of the government is that, with a non -electoral year, the legislature has more room to advance in structuring reforms and the modernization of the business environment in the country.
