Video released by the STF shows Mauro Cid in shock when informed about his arrest

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) released on Thursday (20) a video of the award-winning denunciation of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former assistant of orders from former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), which shows the moment he is informed about his new pre -trial detention.

The decision was made by Minister Alexandre de Moraes in March 2024, after audios leaked by the magazine Look revealing Cid criticizing the terms of the denunciation and suggesting that he was being pressured to confirm allegedly false information to the Federal Police (PF).

The decision was announced by Airton Vieira, judge who works in the Moraes Office:

“I have … to scientific to all that the Minister Rapporteur, Alexandre de Moraes, in the file of PET 11767, decided that he decreed the pre -trial detention of Mr. Mauro César Barbosa Cid.”

The video does not record a faint of ICD at the time of the decision, but, according to reports, when leaving the trial room, Lieutenant Colonel had to be supported by his lawyers.

Reason for the new prison

The order of pre -trial detention was decreed at the end of a hearing on March 22, 2024, in which Cid was summoned to clarify the recordings released by the press.

In the audios, the military complained of alleged pressures to reinforce accusations against Bolsonaro and his allies. The leakage raised suspicions about the veracity of collaboration, endangering the benefits granted to the former joint order of the award-winning agreement.

The video disclosure occurs in the context of the complaint presented by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against Bolsonaro and 33 others investigated for attempted coup.

With the revelation of the images, the defense of ICD should evaluate the next steps in the case.
