Braga Netto calls for suspicion of Moraes in a complaint about coup

The lawyers of General Walter Braga Netto, former Minister of Defense, asked the Supreme Court (STF) that Minister Alexandre de Moraes be declared suspicious to judge the complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) on a scammer plot acting At the end of the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Bolsonaro, Braga Netto and 32 others were reported last week for attempted coup and violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, among other crimes.

For the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, Braga Netto played a central role in the plot. In the request for the suspicion of Moraes, among the main arguments is that the minister would be directly targeted by the plot, although not the main victim of the reported crimes, which may lead to the bias of the judge.

The request must be reviewed by the President of the Supreme, Luís Roberto Barroso, to whom it is up to decide on requests for redistribution of proceedings. In case of negative, it is possible to appeal for collegiate judgment.
