Federal Government announces Brazilian vaccine against dengue in SUS in 2026

Effectiveness of 79.6% in cases of symptomatic dengue and 89% in serious cases, says government. The Brazilian vaccine is tetravalent – it is against the four serotypes of dengue.

Today the vaccine available at SUS (Unified Health System) is for children and adolescents from 10 to 14. The immunizer is Qdenga, developed by the Pharmaceutical Takeda.

Vaccination is one of the points where the management of the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, has been criticized. This month, the state of São Paulo decreed emergency by dengue, after registering 124 thousand cases and 113 deaths in 2025.

Under risk of dismissal

The exchange of Nisia is expected. It should be replaced by Minister Alexandre Padilha, currently in institutional relations, but, as in other situations, Lula has been slow to make the announcement after months of speculation, which follow as it is expected (and parties press for) a reform) broader ministerial.

Lula holds her two years ago, under strong pressure for Congress. Of academic and technical historical, Nisia is criticized by parliamentarians for a supposed lack of political traquejo, especially when releasing funds.
