Fachada norte da Casa Branca, em Washington, D.C., nos Estados Unidos.

So far, admission to this restricted group, of which AFP is part, was decided by WhCA.

“This measure attentive to the independence of the free press in the United States,” said Eugene Daniels, president of this association created in 1914.

“In a free country, leaders should not be able to choose their own press,” he adds in a statement.

WhCA is the one who manages the operation of the group of journalists accompanying the president during each of his public appearances, at the White House or when he travels the United States and the world.

The “pool” is in charge of informing, for journalists who are not in place, the facts, gestures and statements of the head of state.

The announcement was made amid a confrontation between the White House and the American news agency AP, which was part of the restricted circle of journalists to which the president was more proximally proximally prohibited by the government.
