Trump announces American citizenship to white farmers from South Africa
Although it does not mention in its publication the fact that these farmers are white, Trump’s policy is intended for this population. An executive order signed by Trump in early February made explicit who would be the beneficiaries.
The center of the controversy is the agrarian reform and land distribution policy of South Africa. Although the country has abandoned apartheid 30 years ago, the concentration of wealth continues in the hands of the white minority. In an effort to correct the situation, the local government has been adopting a posture to ensure greater land distribution.
Trump, whose biggest ally is the South African Elon Musk, has decided that this option will not be accepted by the US.
The US government, which had promised to close its borders for foreigners, now announces that it will receive the entire “refugee” South African victim of the Black’s Government policies. In other words, the white minority.
In the February decree, it is established that the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Internal Security “will take appropriate measures, according to the law, to prioritize humanitarian aid, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admission Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa that are victims of injustice and violence.”
This is also true for those who are “victim of racial discrimination.”
