Brazil will adopt reciprocity after US confirm 25% rate on steel

The US confirmed this afternoon that this Wednesday comes into force a 25% surcharge for the American steel import from any country in the world, including Brazil.

The Brazilian government does not consider positive a trade war with the United States, but it will not fail to adopt the principle of reciprocity, say sources.

This decision became clearer after Trump not only threatened to overcome products, but the US Congress has also begun to process a law to prevent Supreme Minister Alexandre de Moraes from entering the country.

The path of negotiation, however, will continue to open. On March 6, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin had a video conferencing with US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, to deal with the matter.
