Trump and Maduro make agreement and deportation flights will be resumed tomorrow

Relationship soured even more after Trump deported from 238 Venezuelans to CECOT (Terrorism Confinement Center), a maximum security arrest in El Salvador. Venezuelan president called the kidnapping situation.

For the deportations, the US president invoked a 1798 law that allows the expulsion of “foreign enemies” without trial. Caracas claims to be “anachronistic”, and a decision was also criticized by the American justice.

On Thursday (20), Maduro government said the US State Department was “blocking” repatriation flights to the country. But after meetings, the deal seems to have arrived. “Migrating is not a crime, and we will not rest until everyone who wants to go back are back and we rescue our kidnapped brothers in El Salvador,” said Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Venezuelan parliament

Since February, about 900 Venezuelans have been repatriated. Almost 400 of them from the United States and the rest of Mexico, where they were retained.
