Brazão’s former advisor denies having given a weapon to murder Marielle
Former military police officer Robson Calixto Fonseca, known as Peixe, denied this Friday (25) having supplied the weapon used in the murder of councilwoman Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes, in March 2018, in Rio de Janeiro.
Robson is a former advisor to the advisor of the Court of Auditors of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TCE-RJ) Domingos Brazão and gave testimony at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) as a defendant in the criminal action being processed at the Court.
During his testimony, Robson Calixto said that he never met former police officer Ronnie Lessa, a confessed defendant in the shooting of the councilor. According to Lessa, the weapon used in the crime was given to him by Calixto.
Marielle case: Rivaldo Barbosa says he feels humiliated for wearing handcuffs on his feet
The former head of Rio’s Civil Police gives virtual testimony for the second consecutive day in the criminal action in which he and other defendants are accused of the murder of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes
“How is a hired killer who has already killed more than 100 people going to need to take a gun from me to do the job? What this guy did is unacceptable. I will never do that. I am 48 years old and I preserve my life and that of my family”, he stated.
Calixto also said that he has no involvement with militias and land grabbing in the west zone of Rio. “I was never a militia member. I have always been a hard worker”, he added.
Robson Calixto’s testimony was suspended at around 7 pm and will resume next Tuesday (29). The hearing is led by judge Airton Vieira, assistant to minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case.
In addition to Robson Calixto, the brothers Chiquinho Brazão (federal deputy) and Domingos Brazão are also defendants in the criminal case in the Marielle case; the former head of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro Rivaldo Barbosa; and Military Police Major Ronald Paulo de Alves Pereira. All are responsible for the crimes of homicide and criminal organization and are arrested by order of Moraes.
According to the investigation carried out by the Federal Police (PF), Marielle’s murder is related to the parliamentarian’s stance contrary to the interests of the political group led by the Brazão brothers, who are linked to land issues in areas controlled by militias in Rio.
