Brazil threatens anyone who boycotts national products: ‘Serious impact’

“The Brazilian government expects the companies that announced boycotts of Brazilian products to reverse these unfounded decisions and that all actors who have contributed to this disinformation campaign are aware of the negative consequences of their actions and take into account the serious impact they could have on its relations with Brazil, which must remain mutually beneficial and always guided by respect and loyalty”, said the joint note.

The text does not explain what the actions would be.

The note points out that Brazil “highlights the importance of the strategic partnership, trade flows and the historical ties it maintains with the European continent in general and with France in particular”.

Still, the warning is clear:

“Nevertheless, it will once again react firmly against any new campaign that targets the image of Brazilian products, especially agribusiness, whose standards of excellence throughout the entire production chain are recognized throughout the world,” he said.

The note does not mention, however, the attacks that Brazil received this Tuesday, during a hearing in the French Parliament. The legislature approved a motion against an agreement with Mercosur.
