England: Pregnant woman dies after falling 27 meters and baby survives

A pregnant woman died after falling from a height of 27 meters in the city of Leeds, England, last Tuesday (22). The baby survived and is hospitalized.

What happened

Emma Atkinson was in the final stages of her pregnancy, according to the BBC. The victim was in the Shakespeare Towers building, in the Burmantofts neighborhood, when he fell 27 meters. Authorities are investigating the case and believe there are no “suspicious circumstances” related to the death.

The baby, named Posie, was taken to hospital and was born five weeks early. West Yorkshire Police said she is receiving “intensive care”. Demi Atkison, her older sister, wrote that the baby was fighting for her life and “is the last piece of our mother.”
