Government announces ambassador André Corrêa do Lago as president of COP30 in Belém

The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced this Tuesday ambassador André Corrêa do Lago as president of COP30, which will be held in Belém in November this year.

Ana Toni, secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will be the executive secretary of the COP.

In a quick press conference after the announcement, Corrêa do Lago said that the Brazilian government is evaluating all the decisions of the new North American president, Donald Trump, who the day before announced the US withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, but that there will be an impact significant in the preparation of the COP.
