Analysts assess, however, that the Israeli prime minister has a complex relationship with the next North American president. “I think he (Netanyahu) is a little afraid of Trump. He thinks Trump can manipulate him, but he’s afraid that if Trump has his eye on him, Trump might get very angry, unlike Biden, who, for some reason, he never pressured him, never reacted to his manipulations,” Alon Pinkas, a former Israeli diplomat in New York, told Deutsche Welle.

Situation in the Middle East will require attention from the next US administration. So far, Trump has not presented any major plan for the region, only stating that he would end the wars in Gaza and Lebanon, without discussing how he would differentiate himself from the Biden government.

Critics accused Netanyahu of playing with time to wait for a new US president. Despite the Biden administration’s full military and political support for the Israeli government during the war, Netanyahu is happy with Trump, Pinkas said, because he believes the next president will not pressure him in any way on the Palestinian issue.”
