It’s already 2025! See photos of the arrival of the new year around the world

In Sydney, Australia, fireworks were fired from the Sydney Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House. A test fireworks display was also held shortly before midnight. Sydney claims the title of “New Year capital of the world”.

The city welcomed 2025 with nine tonnes of fireworks fired from the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge. 260 firing points were installed, compared to 184 in the previous year. The event also featured sound and light shows, aboriginal cultural presentations, and drones forming figures in the sky. More than a million people watched the show.

One hundred artists participated in the event, with emphasis on British pop star Robbie Williams, who performed at the Opera House. Despite its success, the celebration was almost compromised by a strike by local railway workers.
