BySimon Rousseau Posted onJanuary 5, 2025 7:31 am
Abstention in the São Paulo election is the highest in 40 years

When requesting the remittance, to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), of the investigation that discovered audios of the mayor of Choró Carlos Alberto Queiroz, “Bebeto do Choró” – a municipality 185 kilometers from Fortaleza (CE), the Federal Police (PF) pointed out evidence that federal deputy Júnior Elmano (former PL) “would be directly involved in the diversion of parliamentary amendments, used to fuel the scheme (of buying votes) and consolidate his base of political support”.

According to investigators, the parliamentarian “played a central role in manipulating electoral elections, both through buying votes and directing public resources diverted from companies controlled by the criminal group.

The report contacted the parliamentarian’s advisor via email and sought contact with the mayor. He received no response.

The information is from the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo.
