Public Servants Day: union demands better wages and working conditions

The Confederation of Workers in the Federal Public Service (Condsef) released a note, this Monday (28), to celebrate Public Servants Day and defend the importance of public service for the construction of democracy.

“We know that there is no democracy without public services. Civil servants are the protagonists in promoting citizenship and building a more just and egalitarian society, guaranteeing access for the entire population to basic social rights such as education, health, culture, social security, housing, security, food, work and leisure” , highlighted the text.

For the general secretary of Condsef, Sérgio Ronaldo da Silva, the focus of federal employees has historically been and should continue to be on defending Brazilian public services. “We want to rescue public policies, public tenders, rescue rights”, he highlighted.

Condsef considers that the category is suffering attacks from business sectors interested in the privatization of public services.

The confederation also criticizes the salary policy adopted for federal public service. Unions defend measures to reduce salary distortions and follow debates on administrative reform with concern.

Replacement

Also this Monday, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) published a note in which it states that the specific negotiation tables resulted in more than 98% of federal public servants with a guarantee of replacement and a real increase in salaries and career restructuring.

In an interview with Agência Brasil, the Secretary of People Management at the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), José Celso Cardoso, stated that the Brazilian public service currently registers more women than men; average education higher than that of the private sector; and workforce concentrated on sectoral activities aimed at public policies, no longer on auxiliary or support activities.
