Renan left the Ministry to put himself in the running for the dispute in Alagoas, in the election for State government. The pre-campaign for government has also been busy with the mayor of Maceió, João Henrique Caldas, JHC (PL).
The departure is mandatory due to the so-called disqualification – the deadline given by the Electoral Court for politicians to leave their positions and be candidates in the elections. The deadline this year is April 4th.
Renan Filho is an economist, graduated from the University of Brasília (UnB). He is 46 years old and is from Murici (Alagoas). The dispute for the Senate will bring together two rivals: senator Renan Calheiros (MDB) and former president of the Chamber Arthur Lira (PP).
