Rui Costa suggests that people change orange for another fruit, given the high price

The Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, suggested that if a fruit is high price, the consumer can change the food he will consume as a way to circumvent the high price of the product. The minister gave the orange example: “Instead of orange eating another fruit.”
“The international price is as expensive as here. What can you do? Change the fruit we will consume. Instead of orange consume another fruit, ”Rui Costa told reporters on Friday, 24.“ It’s no use downloading the import rate, because there is no product out there to put it inside. So we will focus, of course, on the cheapest product out there. ”

The statement came after a meeting with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva this Friday. In addition to the president and Rui Costa, Ministers Fernando Haddad (Farm), Esther Dweck (Management), Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture) and Paulo Teixeira (agrarian development) participated; the executive secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Márcio Elias Rosa; the executive secretary of the Ministry of Agrarian Development, Fernanda Machiaveli; the Secretary of Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance, Guilherme Mello; and the CEO of the National Supply Company (Conab), Edegar Pretto.
Also in the afternoon of Friday, Rui Costa said that the government will act to reduce the import rate of foods that are more expensive in the domestic market compared to the international market.
According to him, there is no justification for the country to have products priced above the international level. ”All products that have higher internal price than external, we will act immediately in the import rate,” he said.
According to the head of the Civil House, federal management will make an analysis of products in the international market with lower prices compared to the domestic market.
“The rate reduction will be for any and all product that is cheaper in the international market and more expensive in the domestic market,” he added. “We’ll focus on the cheapest product out there to bring the price at least the level that is in the international.”
