Here’s the full statement of the White House:

Today, President Trump and President Putin have talked about the need for peace and a ceasefire in the Ukraine War. Both leaders have agreed that this conflict has to end with lasting peace. They also stressed the need to improve bilateral relations between the United States and Russia.

The blood and treasure that both Ukraine and Russia have spent this war would be better employed in the needs of their peoples.

This conflict should never have begun and should have ended a long time ago with sincere peace efforts and good faith.

The leaders have agreed that the movement for peace will begin with a ceasefire in the field of energy and infrastructure, as well as technical negotiations on the application of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, a total ceasefire and permanent peace. These negotiations will start immediately in the Middle East.

The leaders spoke in general terms about the Middle East as a region of potential cooperation to avoid future conflict. They also discussed the need to end the proliferation of strategic weapons and will collaborate with others to ensure as wide as possible application. The two leaders share the opinion that Iran should never be able to destroy Israel.
