Trump calls for an end to income tax, praises Elon Musk and talks about UFOs on podcast
Former President Donald Trump participated on Friday night (25) on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, one of the most listened to in the world. The politician spoke about a series of random topics, such as the end of income tax, life on other planets, Elon Musk, war in Ukraine and even his sexuality.
The interview is part of the politician’s strategy of participating in programs with good internet ratings. The podcast, hosted by popular host Joe Rogan, has 14.5 million followers on Spotify and 17.6 million on YouTube, the majority of which are young men.
With an eye on this audience, the Republican candidate, who is running for president of the United States with current vice-president Kamala Harris, also spoke about struggles and praised the military. When responding to a question about accusations that he had been hostile in recent weeks during the election campaign, he said that he was actually “a very straight guy”.
The Republican also took the opportunity to criticize the war in Ukraine. He said that the conflict in the country would not have happened if he had been in power.
In the interview, the candidate again said that the 2020 elections were rigged. He did not present any evidence and only mentioned electoral legislation. He also criticized voting intention polls, saying that “there is probably a lot of fraud”, without also presenting evidence. Polls show Kamala and Trump practically tied.
Tax, UFOs and Musk
During the conversation, Trump also reinforced that he would prefer to replace income taxes with fees, something he had said on a recent program on FoxNews, when he said that “in the 1890s, when the country was relatively the richest it has ever existed, it had all tariffs, but there was no income tax.”
At another point in the interview, he told the presenter that he has been learning a lot about UFOs. “There is no reason not to think that Mars and all these planets are lifeless.” In September, the Republican even said that, if elected, he would release UFO videos from the Pentagon.
Another subject was Elon Musk. Trump praised the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and said he was “the greatest guy”. Documents filed this week with the US Federal Election Commission show that Musk donated around $44 million to the Republican’s campaign in October.
