Iran says it does not seek war
Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that his country does not seek war, but will give an “appropriate response” to Israeli bombing against Iranian military installations on the night of Friday and Saturday. “If the Zionist regime’s aggressions and crimes continue, tensions will increase.” Pezeshkian also stated that the US promised to “end the war if we showed restraint, but it did not keep its promise.”
The Israeli attack left four Iranian soldiers dead but spared the country’s nuclear facilities and oil production infrastructure. “It appears they haven’t attacked anything other than military targets,” Joe Biden said on Saturday. “I hope this is the end,” he added, referring to the recent escalation of violence between the two countries, which included the assassination in Tehran of the then leader of Hamas, Ismail Hanyeh, and the subsequent Iranian missile attack on Israel in the beginning and October.
