Trump says he considers negotiating free trade agreement with Argentina

United States President Donald Trump said today that he considers the possibility of signing a free trade agreement with Argentina.

What happened

Trump signals interest in a direct agreement with Argentina. The statement was made to reporters at the White House, where the US president also praised Argentine President Javier Milei, calling him “great leader.”

Speech comes days after Malei claims that he could remove Argentina from Mercosur if necessary to advance in negotiations with the US. The day before yesterday, Milei said the South American block “It only served to enrich the Brazilian industrialists” and that an agreement with the United States would be a “historical opportunity.”
