What is known about the health of Pope Francis

Since March 7, this bulletin has been released on alternate days. The next one is scheduled for this Wednesday.

The Pope, born in the Portene de Flores neighborhood, in Buenos Aires, did not yet appear in public, nor were published images of him, as used to happen in previous hospitalizations.

Last Thursday, the Vatican released an audio message from the Pope, recorded by his own initiative, in which he thanked the faithful for his prayers, with a tired voice.

This hospitalization is the fourth and longest since its election in 2013.

In 2021, he was hospitalized for 10 days for colon surgery. In March 2023, he spent three days with bronchitis, and another ten days in June, when he underwent abdominal hernia surgery.
